Update on Internet Access, Fiber, and Cable

Hurricane Helene,

Update on Internet Access Fiber and Cable
Spectrum, AT&T, and Optimum have all been working to restore internet service. They are making a lot of progress, but keep having issues with debris clearance and other utilities cutting their fiber lines after they’ve already been repaired or in places that were never broken, so they’re constantly having to go back and make additional repairs. The teams have started sending technicians with NCDOT and power crews to make immediate repairs when a line is cut. They don’t have ETA’s on exactly when internet will be 100% restored, but they’re working as quickly as they can on it! – Chuck Edwards Congressional Office.

Spectrum
Spectrum Charter is now around 97% restored in Buncombe County with approximately 2,900 accounts remaining offline. They are working to estimate timelines for those remaining offline accounts based on current progress.
